Princesses and Pumpkins

I had the pleasure of having two adorable princesses in front of my camera. This pair is just as sweet as can be! The session was held at grandmom’s house which was smartly decorated for fall - lots of pumpkins and colorful mums. I just love how their clothing coordinates! It was also a crisp morning and certainly felt like autumn. Here’s one with mom too. You can’t help but smile around these fun-loving ladies!

As I am quite sentimental and love traditions, I was thrilled when grandmom asked for my help as this family starts a special one of their own. Grandmom purchased a gorgeous dress and plans to photograph her granddaughter wearing it every year until it fits. Here is the very first one!It was wonderful meeting all of you. Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek - many more images to come!

One of My Favorite Things

Obviously, I’m not Oprah. However, I would like to share one of MY favorite things with you. As a frazzled mother desperately trying to juggle the kids, maintain the house, and manage this crazy photography business, I could easily fall into the habit of working around the clock neglecting myself. Which, of course, makes me extremely cranky and generally unpleasant to be around. To quote Count Rugen from the Princess Bride (one of the best movies of all time), “If you haven’t got your health, then you haven’t got anything.”

So I do my best to eat right, get enough sleep, and carve out some exercise time. I’m not saying I do each of those well - there’s been lots of drive thru dinners and working into the wee morning hours. However, I never miss my weekly session with Mara from Vital Pilates. Pilates improves my flexibility, strength and tone. It helps my posture and all those bad habits I’ve created by sitting at this computer for way too long. It just basically makes me feel good (and a wicked strong tummy isn’t to shabby either)!

I’ve been seriously practicing Pilates for 6 years now and will continue doing so for my entire lifetime. I do not want to become a hunchbacked old woman. I have had several instructors along the way and Mara is the simply best. She is a fully trained expert (by Romana Kryzanowska the world-reowned protege of Joseph Pilates himself) and all around really cool chick.

Mara is holding and open house at her new studio this weekend. It’s right around the corner from Gibraltar where many of you had your portrait session with me (1300 Riverview Avenue). Stop by and tell her I sent you! You won’t be disappointed.

Now take the time and do something special for YOU!

All Grown Up

I photographed the most amazing family just shy of a year and a half ago. It was quite a feat organizing everyone’s schedules considering the bigger kids had already left the nest for college and beyond. We captured some terrific images of the gang individually and all together. Only one problem - braces on the youngest fellow. One of those life obstacles, but mom and son really and image for the wall without them. So here he is all grown up, sans braces.

So handsome!

Great Day in the Morning!

Thanks to Pierre Robert for giving me the perfect title for this blog post. I usually photograph in the afternoon, but this session was held on a beautifully bright morning. The air had a bit of a nip to it, yet it could not be a more glorious day.

I have photographed these two cool kiddos on numerous occasions. It’s always neat for me to walk through a client’s home and see my art showcased on their walls. It never fails to amaze me how quickly children grow. Little sister was just a baby when I captured my first image of her!WOW, these two have some seriously good ups! Plus they are still as adorable as ever. Even if they have to grow up (sigh!).

The Most Wonderful Time for the Year

Nah, actually I have mixed emotions about back to school. I’m a warm weather kind of gal so the end of summer makes me a bit sad. I’ll miss the pool, my beloved flip flops and spending lots of time with my kiddos. However, entertaining them all summer has seriously interfered with my productivity. So now I can finally get to all those projects on the backburner. Here’s my gang with 2 of the next door neighbors. Pictures on the first day of school has become a tradition. I take them in the same two spots each year. It’s neat to see how they have grown. Kiera was thrilled to wear a uniform like the big guys. I think the material her jumper is made out of is indestructible!
